I have been standing on my head for over 45 years now - I can safely say this makes me a bit of an expert - ha ha what a mad thing to be good at. It began at 4 years old and now I’m 50 - I just loved seeing the world upside down - especially at the beach - completely trippy.
It was only when I began to study the Iyengar Way I realised I was looking for an input on my crown chakra - this is why headstand is the King of Asana. You have to find stillness or else you fall.
I notice in my teaching many students wanting to to headstand but the hour class is just not enough time. To this end here is this workshop.
You will learn the asanas necessary to master so you can build the correct muscles and patterns to hold the headstand without overarching and wobbling. It is not suitable for a beginner to stand on their head.
You will understand the activation of the front line is so important so as to avoid the swayback in headstand - and keep those ribs in.
If you feel your weight on your elbows you are doing a swayback in your headstand - learn how to correct this so you are not injuring your own neck in your yoga practice.
If your ears are not vertical in headstand you are compressing your neck vertebrae - this is so not good for you - come to this workshop and get help from me and I will teach you what you are actually doing with your neck in headstand and how to fix it so you can get there with safety to your neck.
I’ve always loved this photo of Guruji teaching headstand - he always gives such clear demonstration.
